After watching John McCain in the first presidential debate pander about how much he cared about veterans, I found his statements so disingenuous I decided to put together this video highlighting the hypocrisy of his words.

The references cited in the video are detailed below:
McCain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans by $650 million. (8/1/2001)
McCain voted against establishing a VA reserve fund to treat veterans. (3/10/2004)
McCain voted against increasing VA medical services funding. (3/14/2006)
McCain was one of 13 Republicans to vote against $430 million for VA outpatient care and facilities. (4/26/2006)
It’s my first campaign-style video, so please be kind. I’ve also got one on Sara Palin in the works I hope to post soon.

On Veterans day we honor the brave men and women who gave of themselves, and often their lives, in service to this country. Their courage and sacrifice should never be forgotten and that is why we pay tribute to them on this day.
But for our LGBT veterans, their service and sacrifice are seldom recognized in [...]
I will gladly join the chorus of voices praising Keith Olbermann’s special comment on Proposition 8 this evening. His moving comments, aimed squarely at those who took our rights away, was the most meaningful piece of television I have seen in a long time.
Please send a thank you to Keith at MSNBC.

According to an article published today in the San Francisco Chronicle, Mormons were invited to lend support to Proposition 8 by Archbishop George Niederauer of San Francisco months before the election.
“The June letter from Niederauer drew in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and proved to be a critical move in building a [...]
As an avid consumer of electronics, I try very hard to dispose of it properly. Of course that wasn’t always the case. Back in my PC building days I would get rid of defective components by simply tossing them in the trash, not giving a second thought to the toxic materials they contained or where [...]

I’m no McCain fan, so I was very interested in your video and the U.S. Senate Rollcall votes you referred to. I don’t know why but I was astonished to see that he really had voted against these various bills, amendments and resolutions. But…. am I reading it wrong, re your first claim…. it shows he voted Yea for the $650 million. Anyway, great job. Thanks for exposing some important lies.

Valerie, in the first example cited he did vote yes… to waive the amendment… in effect, voting against it. Thanks for the post!

Excellent clip. Thank you for editing this together. I’m glad I’m not the only one whose mouth popped open over his false statements!

Thank you! I am sharing this clip with Blue Star Families for Obama at http://www.bsf4o.com. I can say that many of us were screaming at the television when he spewed out his “love” for veterans…

Thank you for making this video. It is perfect- short, sweet and to the freaking point. I can’t believe how that man masquerades as the champion of the little guy and of veterans, when I have an incapacitated uncle who hasn’t been able to get decent veteran’s benefits his entire life, all because slime balls like John McCain are casting the votes.
Our government was supposed to be for the people, by the people. If it were up to American citizens, our veterans would be a top priority. He doesn’t speak for anyone but the big-time money makers. His voting record on this issue is as horrid as he is. I’d love to post this on my blog if you don’t mind- http://www.marketplaceidols.wordpress.com.
Will you please make a video about the his role in the Keating Five scandal? People need to know what a LIAR HE IS. Here’s a great article:

Thanks again!

Why don’t you include this web page from the DAV. John McCain rates at the bottom of the list at 20%. He has great company the two Idaho Senators both with 20%. Obama has an 80% rating. http://capwiz.com/dav/scorecard.xc?chamber=S&state=US&session=1092&x=18&y=14

Well, I guess if you REALLY look at all this voting, and actually read the bills and discovered how much PORK was in them and if they PASSED or not, even with John McCain being the ONLY person that created the failure to pass the bills, you might be a Republican…Liberals don’t read, they support the lazy, crazy and insane. Hussain Obama for president, sounds fitting for you liberals, doesn’t it.
