11:40:23 AM: 350-400 protestors would be my guess.

11:41:41 AM: No one can hear the speaker. Much complaining. People want to “stir” things up.

11:42:24 AM: Again I ask where is the tea?

11:40:23 AM: 350-400 protestors would be my guess.

11:42:24 AM: Again I ask where is the tea?

11:48:00 AM: Just sang the star spangled banner. Looking for people of color.

11:48:45 AM: 1,2,3,4. That’s all I can see.

12:23:33 PM: Final obsevation. Then will give my twitter friends a break. There was no counter protest. No opposing voices. Would have been interesting.

UPDATE: I have edited out part of my statement regarding the 14-year-old who spoke at the rally due to their age and not to cause any additional distress. Thus is the danger of twittering and trying to communicate gut reactions in a time-sensitive way. What does concern me is when young people are used as pawns to make political points. I am not saying that was the case here, but there is plenty of precedent for it.

I was there. Your rendition isn’t bad. It wasn’t a super rally, but conservatives don’t do rallies well. We’re busy people. (Most of my conserative friends were busy at work.) Protests are rather juvenile, anyway, as most juveniles are hotheaded idealists (remember the Churchill quote? “If you’re not a liberal at 20 you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at 40 you have no brain.”) There’s a lot the rally organizers could have done better. However, your comment about a 14-year-old being brainwashed is stupid. How about all the Obamatons who never spent a minute thinking about what Obama stands for, what his policies are, and whether they make sense. Like robots. The fact is that most 14-year-olds are just following their parents’ lead, anyway. That’s normal. It isn’t until the college years and beyond that most people begin to think for themselves.

  2. ariel Says:

I AM NOT BRAINWASHED. That comment is factually innacurate.

  3. Avonelle Says:

Hmmm… I was out of town, so didn’t have a chance to attend. But, since I’m not a conservative white male that’s probably OK. I did have a great time visiting family though, which beats bad chants and rants!

  4. Chad Says:

Complain… complain… complain. That’s all we do as a society is complain. Has the RNC submitted any resolutions or solutions to the Obama administration, other than tax cuts for the wealthy? Have they? Last I heard it was an empty book. Give me a break, okay.
Once again, we are a bunch of whiners!

  5. Ariel Says:

    To Whom It May Concern,

I am the fourteen year old mentioned in this post.
First of all, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the writer of this blog for taking down the comment about me being brainwashed. I am fully aware that most children and adolescents simply follow the ideas and practices of their parents. This is not the case here. My parents have always been Democrats, but they encouraged me to explore the different sides, rather than forcing me to blindly follow their views.

I read many books about the subject, and did much research on the parties and and candidates, and came to a conclusion after much searching. That is how I became a conservative.

    Thanks.
