Ethan McNameeBrave Denver third grader Ethan McNamee organized a rally this past weekend in support of gay marriage. Ethan decided to make the rally his class project after witnessing gay bullying on the playground and because he thought it was wrong that his lesbians neighbors were not allowed to marry.

Even those with a different view offered praise for Ethan’s efforts. Senator Shawn Mitchell, R-Broomfield in the Denver Post:

“You have to admire his compassion and initiative,” Mitchell said. “I’d like to think that someday he’ll understand the issue is a little more complicated.”

No sir. It’s not complicated at all. The kid gets it. You don’t.

Congratulations to Ethan for speaking up and reporting bullying. Bullying and violence has doubled in the last four years. We have a solution that is easy, wont cost any money and deliver results.

The solution is to teach children the right thing to do about bullying and violence at an early age. All it would take to get started is for parents and caregivers of 4-8 year old children to insist that their schools post bully prevention guidelines. Very few Pre and K-3 schools have them.

With the help of experts in childhood education, our Foundation created a comprehensive section on our website. Parents, caregivers and educators have FREE access to bully prevention guidelines, resources, lessons and resources.

Children can watch an award winning, best selling animated book, Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies and download the Be Brave Be Bold song and games.

Amazing kid, how old is he again? To think that most kids are usually focused on video games nowadays, this one actually is quite in touch with one of the more pressing issues in society.

Kudos to his family for raising such as forward thinking child and for letting him understand that he lives in a diverse world where acceptance, not just tolerance, is highly needed.

I think his teacher helped him in writing this inspiring piece. I commend him or her for helping this child put his thoughts into words. Young kids are very impressionistic and you become who you are by the examples in you see in life.

He gets it, he really gets it.
